Branson Gears Up For Veterans Week
A story about Branson's Veterans Week in the Springfield NewsLeader, included comments from June Tillis our director of sales:
June Tillis, director of sales at the Veterans Memorial Museum and a task force board member, said the event is unique to Branson for many reasons.
"You have to have a unique location like Branson with all the theaters and attractions and all the volunteers who want to make this happen," Tillis said.
Branson's Veterans Day parade has been a part of Branson for 77 years but the weeklong celebration started in 1995, said Dan Lennon, director of marketing for the Branson/Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce. Among the highlights has been the annual Tony Orlando Yellow Ribbon Salute to Veterans, a special show that is free to veterans and their families.
For the past few years, the celebration has been, "Branson doesn't forget our military and their families."
Bradley said the veterans' families are crucial.
"We are very supportive of the spouses and families," he said. "They have to put up with twice the baloney. They have to put up with the family member's service and they have to put up with the military."
